Something Else

Something Else
Without you,
I’m nothing…...I’m nothing
And with you,
We are something…..We are something else
Without you,
I’m nothing…...I’m nothing
And with you,
We are something…..We are something else
You are part of my story
Though I try to resist
We’ve been apart for so long
But I still remember the gist
Cos you helped me to find
This hummingbird that I love
I could see in your eyes
What I could feel in my blood
Without you,
I’m nothing…...I’m nothing
And with you,
We are something…..We are something else
And I hope that you never wish
That I was around
I hope that you’re happy
I hope you haven’t found
That you’ve given up your dreams
For something you’ll never feel
She might tell you you’re safe
But don’t you know…it’s not real
Without you,
I’m nothing…...I’m nothing
And with you,
We are something…..We are something else
You’ve been moving around
Though you are trying to keep still
You are chasing a life
Where you will do what you will
But I can’t help but think
That you miss the stars in your eyes
Are you never coming back?
Is the sun (son) never gonna rise?
Without you,
I’m nothing…...I’m nothing
And with you,
We are something…..We are something else
Without you,
I’m nothing…...I’m nothing, yeah
And with you,
We are something…..We are something else
But you are someone else, you are someone else,
You are someone else, you are someone else’s…

I Have No Choice
03:46
|
|||
I Have No Choice
I am watching the people on the street
And I am trying extra hard to find some joy in my defeat
But I will sing of you until they hear the breaking of my voice
They wonder why I do not stop - I tell them that I have no choice
And you were running, running, running, running late
But we made it on the plane and, what you did, you sealed my fate
Would you decide to steal a story about how she decides to die?
And so you sold Marie some magic that sent her flying to the sky
Oh, it was two open ends and, yet, we still had to choose
It was a game of blind roulette and either way I was to lose
Did you breathe a sigh of relief when they said I had to be alone?
And now you sit upon your hands after casting the first stone
But, little do you know, I’ve used your stone to find my way
I’ve carved the notes upon the sand, I’ve sang the words I cannot say
And, in the end, it doesn’t matter if I feel a little bit exposed
I am the bluest of the blue, I am the lightest, brightest rose
I am the bluest of the blue, I am the lightest, brightest rose
I am the bluest of the blue, I am the lightest, brightest rose

The Chalice
03:30
|
|||
The Chalice
It’s so hard to feel my own heartbeat
When I’ve written you into my life
And, in heaven, I knew where you came from
Made me trip and fall onto your knife
And, in truth, I have felt my own failings
And the pain of becoming your ghost
And, for sure, I knew not that you loved me
But I thought that you liked me the most
And I wonder what the spirits will say
When they drink their drinks and start to sway
Will they say “Well she tried her best,
But the river ran from the forest”
And they will say “It’s such a shame
To lose the plot and draw the game”
But forever’s not what it used to mean
And you’ll never know what we’ve never been
Da da dada dada etc.
And maybe there is no way out
But to raise the chalice to your mouth
And drink until you feel the truth
The way it felt within your youth
Cos I will never take your name
But I will never be the same
I don’t feel the fight inside no more
But you’ll need the ball
If you want to score
Dad a dada dada etc.

Running Free
04:19
|
|||
Running Free
You, you are darkness and water
When the moon is pulling it tight
And I can’t, can’t resist the temptation
To go swimming at the edge of the night
Chorus
And I will light up the lantern
If you will turn and follow me
And, oh, we will be happy,
Lying still or running free
And I live for your sensations around me
Yeah you spring me alive with every touch
And I melt in, in your hands like a candle
Though the heat, it is never too much
Chorus
And you fill me complete with your music
And I warm to the pulse of your voice
You are made of everything that I’ve needed
Yeah, you leave me with no other choice, no other choice
Chorus

Just in Case
04:37
|
|||
Just in Case
I had a king, I had a key to his door,
Now I’m walking through Kilkenny,
Casting spells upon the Nore
And I have so many keys
I just don’t know what they are for
And, if I’m honest, well I’ve told this story
Time and time before.
But I forgot to get a paper
And so my mind is free to roam
Down the halls and though the tunnels
Oh God, why am I alone?
You know, the fault don’t lie with him
That’s far too easy to be true
The problem is I’m still a-searchin’
For another you
Woah woah woah etc.
Another you would ease the pain
Of living life in broken dreams
And wishing songs would write (right) the truth
Of falling open at the seams
Cos I remember when you held me
I could hear the beating of your heart
Until her voice dripping with poison
Ripped and tore our souls apart
And that was it for me and you
I was too high a price to pay
And you were lost and sad and lonely
When they locked my love away
But I get tired of telling stories
When they pulsate with the truth
Just know I always sing for you,
Just in case you still need proof
Woah woah woah
Just know I always sing for you
Just know I always sing for you
Just know I always sing for you
Just in case you need me to

In My Heart
04:52
|
|||
In My Heart
There is a lion in my heart
I’ve told him many times to leave
But he’s never been that smart
He says “There must be time for one more song”
And, smart or not, I’ve gotta say
He’s rarely ever wrong
I have tried my best to look him in the eye
But he acts like he don’t know me
Although we never said goodbye
He’s lost his way and I can’t let him go
Cos that would be the end of what
We nearly came to know
And it’s been so hard to face reality
To know we’ll never be apart
Because he’ll always live in me
I’ve given up the ghosts of other men
I’ve tried to make them real
But there’s only so much magic in my pen
So, I’ll surrender to the hand that I’ve been dealt
I’ll look for other ways to grow
And maybe all the things I’ve felt
Will keep me going while, for now, I shut my mouth
Because it’s time for giving in,
I’m sick and tired of giving out
There is a lion in my heart
I’ve told him many times to leave
But he’s never been that smart
He says “There must be time for one more song”
And, smart or not, I’ve gotta say
He’s rarely ever wrong
So, I turn and I face him and I wait for his cue
He looks up to the sky as if he’s drawn up to the blue
And then he tells me he’s forgotten the first line
And, as always I remember,
Yes, I remember every time

You Keep Me Going
04:49
|
|||
You Keep Me Going
I was born of your wisdom, I came out of your dreams,
And it’s too late now to say you don’t know what I mean,
‘Cos I was yours and you were mine and we were ours and they were theirs
And, if you’re with me now, then baby I need more than just your prayers
Chorus
‘Cos I’m playing the part of an angel that has fallen from the heavens,
And I’m naked and I’m running and I know that I’m alone in this night
And I am tempted by the fountain but the devil knows I won’t destroy the flowers
I have known what love can do and I’ll believe it ‘till I see the morning light
I’ve closed my eyes and let them hold me down and kiss me on the mouth
But it wasn’t you so I came to and said they had to cut it out
‘Cos I was spinning in infinity of fears you were not real
But, how could that be true? How could I feel the way that I did feel?
Chorus
Well I fell back in wonder and awe at the ghosts that I’d seen
Of the lovers who knew me and wanted to crown me their queen
And the wheel that kept moving while the bell rang out clear in the night
Though the clock, it stood still, and the time, it ran out of my sight
Yes, I fell back in wonder and awe at the ghosts that I’d seen
Of the lovers who knew me and wanted to crown me their queen
And the wheel that kept moving while the bell rang out clear in the night
Though the clock, it stood still, and the time, it ran out of my sight
But you kept me going
Just like you keep me going
Repeat...

Coming Home
05:14
|

Coming Home
The day breaks, my soul shakes,
And the moon has gone into hiding
And I’ll tell you some secrets,
I should not, I should not be confiding,
And baby, it’s been you always,
You’re with me every time I look in the mirror
And I can’t stand the time
As I feel you getting nearer and nearer
And I miss you,
And it’s all, it’s all that I can do
And I’m, I’m coming home to you
I walk the line, it don’t stop,
I just go round in circles,
With the sun and the moon and the stars
We are our own little miracles
And baby, maybe,
I’ve spent too much time thinking about you
But I can’t find myself
While I’m livin’, while I’m livin’ without you
And I miss you,
And it’s all, it’s all that I can do
And I’m, I’m coming home to you
Water and electricity
They mix together inside of me
No wonder magic bounds and bounds
And lightning flashes all around
The road is long,
And my heart, my heart is travelled,
Now I wander the clouds,
While my mind, while my mind unravels,
And I, I miss you,
And it’s all, it’s all that I can do
And I’m, I’m coming home to you

Take Me Away
04:36
|
|||
Take Me Away
As I unpeel my eyes to the sunrise
I untangle the sheets on my bed
And I stare at the mirrors in your eyes
Looks that never before have been read
Chorus
So, take me away from the water,
C’mon and pull me back down to the road
Cos I know that I’m somebody’s daughter
Be careful, I just might explode
Well, I can’t help but unhandle the gauntlet
Don’t throw down what you just can’t let go
I’ve created my own crazy longings
My poor heart, she will never unknow
Chorus
So, take me away from the water,
C’mon and pull me back down to the road
Cos I know that I’m somebody’s daughter
Put me down, I'm about to explode
It’s a lovin’ and lovin’ is leavin’
It’s too much for the mightiest mind
I was never much into believin’
Now all is dreams and dreams, they unwind
So, I cast out my gaze to the mountains
And I screamed as I lept to my death
Now I sing to forget that I’m falling
And I’ll breathe ‘till I run out of breath

My Fall
02:45
|

My Fall
It was ten years ago, I thought that day was the last
It was ten years ago and now I live in the past
And the sun got me going until my head was in the clouds
I was wise and all-knowing, didn’t know that wasn’t allowed
And I picked flower after flower until they rotted away
It was about one every hour until the end of the day
Cos I thought I’d walk across the floor, where you’d be waiting for me
But the wall was painted as a door, that’s all you were ever meant to be
Ever meant to be, ever meant to be…
And I kept all the balls in the air for as long as I could
But he just sat there and stared like I was up to no good
And, when I finally broke and started letting it out,
I felt my mind go up in smoke and my dreams starting to shout,
Starting to shout, yeah I started to shout
“Happy birthday to you” though you don’t care now what I do
But I just can’t help thinking back over it all
What you meant to me, I never meant to you
And the things that you said, well they just were not true
You broke my heart, you didn’t even try to break
My fall
Yeah, what you meant to me, I never meant to you
And the things that you said, well they just were not true
You broke my heart, you didn’t even try to break
My fall

Between Ennis and Woodstock
Between Ennis and Woodstock
I knew you were there
So I opened my window
And I let down my hair
But the people were frightened
Cos, my voice, it was heightened
So they came to take me away
And they handcuffed my wrists
And they told me to pray
They took me to “Your Blue Room”
And I tried to make sense
Of the ever-changing tune
I told jokes that really weren’t funny
And I told them what I thought
Of their dank, dirty money
So they cut off my water
And they sent me to sleep
So that I couldn’t wander
They thought that I might be violent
Which I could sort of understand
Because I wouldn’t stay silent
And, all in all, it felt like
“The World’s End” had really come through
And, all in all, I thought that the poets of our land
Had prophesised me and you
And I am the fool who tells the truth that she saw
When it never could be
I kept your secret sacred when I slept under the sea
And so the sun/son came out to play
Not long after the thundershowers
And I waited for Radiohead
For hours and hours
My famous blue raincoat and eyes were
A shadow to behold
On that Big Day Out in Galway,
I felt like I’d never grow old
On that Big Day Out in Galway,
We felt like we’d never grow old

The Brightest Star
04:55
|

The Brightest Star
I’m surrounded by the people who need time to lose their faith
I’m confounded by the reasons why the light is getting late
I could try to cast a shadow on the clock that sings the rhyme
I could try to tell the time to tell the time
Chorus
And it’s always the brightest star that keeps coming back for more
And it’s always your smilin’ face that I see when I peer round the door
And I’d fly to you forever if you’d show me your watch when I land
And I know that I am lucky to be your friend
He kept rhymin’ and stepwritin’ what he knew to be the truth
He was headstrong and strong-headed in his youth
But, for all his foolish pranks, well he was always giving thanks
And I knew that he was beauty more than proof
Chorus
We are endless turning pages for the woman in the shoe
We can see ourselves within the witches’ brew
And the brightest star is guided by the lighters up above
And I know that, in our own way, we’re in love
Chorus
Yeah, it’s always the brightest star that keeps me coming back for more
And it’s always your smiling face that I see when I sing “The Door”
And I would fly to you in an instant if you would hold out your hand to my hand
And yes I know that I was lucky to be your friend
Be your friend, be your friend, yeah
